Review: AbbonyDuo Pose-able Figures

AbbonyDou Pose-able Figure Review featured image

Have you been looking for a good pose-able figure manikin that’s more detailed than those wooden ones? I remember when there were only wooden manikins used while I was in college. Then one day I came across the AbbonyDuo SH Figuarts based pose-able figures on Amazon. Therefore, I was intrigued by this cheaper offering, and wanted to try a set for myself. In this review I will be going over the pros and cons of the product, to which a verdict will be reached on its recommendation.

Pros

The set I purchased was AbbonyDuo Male (Kun) and female (Chan) anime style combo, with the bodies being a gray color. One of my favorite aspects about AbbonyDuo pose-able figures is all the interchangeable pieces it comes with. Thus, you can switch out various different hands and props to get the pose you want. Subsequently, the props are very diverse as well. There are items such as a sword, shield, drinking cups, a table, suitcase, and numerous other small props for the figure to interact with. Additionally, there’s a clear compact plastic case you can fit almost all your accessories into. The figures are approximately around 5 inches tall. They are small enough to be very portable to take anywhere, especially with the plastic case. Also, the figures can be posed very easily, and they come with a stand that helps hold them up.

Cons

There are many positives to this product, however there are a few drawbacks as well. One of my biggest gripes is how tricky it can be for some of the interchangeable parts to switch out. This is especially true for the hands. Where you have to try to hook / latch the hand to the joint. With some finesse it can be done. Next, is a much smaller complaint… literally! Some might argue against the overall size of the figures. They are detailed, but some of that is lost due to the 5 inch size. I find myself taking a picture on my phone, that way I capture the pose and light source.

Verdict

In an art world filled with so many helpful tools for figure drawing, I think AbbonyDuo pose-able figures is a worthy contender to other competitors. They offer one of the best options in physical form. I love all the interchangeable parts, this lets you craft almost any pose you can think of. The manikins are very space saving as well, due to their size and storage. The only main drawback is the difficulty of changing parts, particularly the hands. In the end I think the pros outweigh the cons. I enjoy using them overall, so I would definitely put them on any artist’s wishlist. I hope this review helps!
